Here is Ben Saunders at the South Pole. Talk about COOOOLD, -41C (-42F by my ken) is most certainly that! This report by Jake Lingeman, 1/21/2014, AUTOWEEK.com shows that Land Rover and Intel got the Brits back to South Pole. This team retraced Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s tragic journey.
As Jake Lingeman described Scott’s bittersweet ordeal:
“It was Nov. 1, 1911 when Scott and his five-man team set out from Cape Evans on an 1,800-mile journey from the coast of Antarctica to the South Pole and back. The team reached the pole on Jan. 17, making them the first British group to get all the way there. But they never made it back, all involved dying about 100 miles shy of the journey’s end.”
Saunders and L’Herpiniere’s trek, retracing the explorer’s steps, is meant to honor Scott and his team, as well as inspire individuals to challenge their own personal limits.”
