Spring Cleaning

April 30th, 2011

The April Annual Spring Cleaning and Barbecue was altered somewhat this year and became the Spring Cleaning and Lunch event. Due to a somewhat smaller turnout, we elected to go out to lunch rather than hold a barbecue / Pot Luck lunch.

We have unofficially decided to rename the Spring Cleaning event the Winter Festival for next year. We have concluded that calling a car washing event “Spring Cleaning” is simply too much temptation for Mother Nature as we ALWAYS have rain or snow as the finishing touch. This year was no exception – snow. However, Mother Nature relented and the sun finally emerged and we had an excellent lunch at Rudy’s Barbecue in Old Colorado City.

Mr. Mike Beyersdoerfer, the local Meguiar’s representative set up a complete dis-play of all the newest Meguiar’s products. He also gave a hands-on demonstration of a number of them – and in the process transformed several freshly washed Jaguars into show quality masterpieces. I’m not sure what Mike does at other Meguiar’s demonstrations, but he certainly worked very hard at our event.

Some of the “snow birds” that braved the elements to show their support for our “ice breaking event” included Tom and Donna Miller, Roy and Angela Winton, Keith Winton, Carolyn McCaul, Dave and Larenda Hershey, Billy Kyles, Don Yowell and new JCSC member Bard Lower. Dave Nothstein, parts guru of Jaguar Colorado Springs also ventured forth to provide much appreciated assistance throughout the morning. Regardless of the weather, this turned out to be another very interesting and informative JCSC event.

If you attended our April “Spring Cleaning” event or just want to profit from the experiences of others, please check out the Meguiar’s Car Care products in the Parts Department at Jaguar Colorado Springs. These fine products really do work as advertised and will help you achieve some fabulous results both inside and outside your car.

If you have any questions regarding Meguiar’s products, please see Dave in Jaguar Parts or contact Mike Beyersdoerfer directly at beyers555@comcast.net. He is extremely knowledgeable as he is not only a Meguiar’s representative, but uses these products on his own fine collection of custom automobiles.

Jaguars in the St Patrick’s Day Parade

March 20th, 2011

It was a bit windy and a bit nippy, but it was still fun for everyone that turned out for the St. Patrick’s Day parade in downtown Colorado Springs. Dave Nothstein and his wife and family arrived in a new XJ convertible courtesy of Thom at Jaguar Colorado Springs. Dave’s children proudly carried our banner while Dave lead our club’s finest down Tejon Street. Those wearin’ the green and drivin’ the Jaguars included Roy and Angela Winton, Dave and Larenda Hershey, Tom and Donna Miller, Carolyn McCaul and her nephew, Howard and Cyndi Mumm, Gary Kerkow and Don Yowell

The parade was very well attended and there were lots of photos taken of our beautiful Jaguars! It was truly a proud moment for the JCSC. Our thanks to Angela Winton and Donna Miller for the Irish green accessories!

That was a ferocious looking feline hanging out the passenger side of Roy’s XK-8, but it sure got a lot of attention! Angela seemed to have things well under control!

After the parade, the very dry and hungry merry makers hastened west for sustenance and liquid refreshment at The Wines of Colorado in Cascade, CO. Herding eight wild Jaguars down Tejon street was a lot of work!

See the March newsletter for more pictures.

Presidents Letter

December 23rd, 2010

Happy Holidays to my fellow Jag lovers.  As many of you may know Jack Humphrey (our 2011 President elect) was deployed to Iraq in early December.  During his absence I have volunteered to continue as your club president.  Jack and I communicate regularly over email and I would encourage each of you to do the same.  I know Jack will appreciate hearing from each and every one of you.  I am sure keeping in touch with those of us back in the US will be a highlight for him.  He will deeply appreciate knowing we are thinking of him and anxiously awaiting his safe return to his family and friends.  Jack’s email address is Jagluver2@cs.com.

With a new year come some new changes to our club.  In as effort to get more folks to attend our club outings we have opted to have quarterly dinners in lieu of our standard meetings at the dealership.  Our first dinner will be in January and will be catered at the dealership.  Additionally, we will be moving the meetings to Thursday evenings.  I certainly hope each of you will be able to join us for these casual social events.  Remember we all have many things in common, including the love of our Jaguars.

We have started planning for our 2011 club events.  Within this months newsletter you will find an initial list of event suggestions for 2011.  We would love your feedback on which events you are interested in participating in in 2011.  Remember, this is your club and we want to make it a FUN club for everyone.

In closing, I would like to thank those of you who have helped make our Jaguar club such a great success.  2010 was a lot of fun and 2011 will be even more fun!  I look forward to seeing each of you next year!

Happy motoring! Gary

2nd Annual Pikes Peak Concours d’Elegance – Photos and Results

September 26th, 2010

The 2nd Annual Pikes Peak Concours d’Elegance and British Motoring Festival was held on Saturday, October 2nd and what a beautiful day it was. We had an awesome turnout with lots of gorgeous Jaguars, a host of other fine British vehicles, and even a few other European marques just to keep us balanced! The weather was a typical Colorado fall day with plenty of sunshine and pleasant temperatures.

Here are a some great photos to give you an idea of the action. Results and more information can be found on the Concours Page.

Summer Picnic

September 21st, 2010

Sunday, September 26th, is the JCSC summer picnic. Jack Humphrey has reserved the Picnic Pavilion on the Air Force Academy grounds, across the road east of Falcon Stadium. There are restroom facilities about 50 yards away. We will meet at the dealership at 10:30 and caravan to the AFA. Everyone bring a dish, all families welcome. Thom, feel free to invite your employees.

For the picnic, I need an RSVP, how many you are bringing, and what dish you are bringing. A strip map and any additional details will be sent out to those attending, particularly if you decide to meet us at the pavilion and not caravan down.

This will be a fun event for everyone just to enjoy a drive (even if you bring a car other than your Jag. Like a BMW, Budd!) and have a chance to socialize. Hopefully we can make it another yearly happening in our schedule.

Email me your RSVP please.

Happy motoring!
