2nd Annual Pikes Peak Concours d’Elegance – Photos and Results

September 26th, 2010

The 2nd Annual Pikes Peak Concours d’Elegance and British Motoring Festival was held on Saturday, October 2nd and what a beautiful day it was. We had an awesome turnout with lots of gorgeous Jaguars, a host of other fine British vehicles, and even a few other European marques just to keep us balanced! The weather was a typical Colorado fall day with plenty of sunshine and pleasant temperatures.

Here are a some great photos to give you an idea of the action. Results and more information can be found on the Concours Page.

Summer Picnic

September 21st, 2010

Sunday, September 26th, is the JCSC summer picnic. Jack Humphrey has reserved the Picnic Pavilion on the Air Force Academy grounds, across the road east of Falcon Stadium. There are restroom facilities about 50 yards away. We will meet at the dealership at 10:30 and caravan to the AFA. Everyone bring a dish, all families welcome. Thom, feel free to invite your employees.

For the picnic, I need an RSVP, how many you are bringing, and what dish you are bringing. A strip map and any additional details will be sent out to those attending, particularly if you decide to meet us at the pavilion and not caravan down.

This will be a fun event for everyone just to enjoy a drive (even if you bring a car other than your Jag. Like a BMW, Budd!) and have a chance to socialize. Hopefully we can make it another yearly happening in our schedule.

Email me your RSVP please.

Happy motoring!

Car Show – Saturday, Sept 4th

August 29th, 2010

JCSC Members,

Below is information on an opportunity to display your car next Saturday (and any first Saturday of the month). Our club is trying to get a group to attend and Thom will be there from the dealership with several new Jaguars. If we have enough cars (6), our club will be advertised as one of the show’s sponsors for that day. I know that Dave and Larenda Hershey are planning to bring at least one of their Jags (they have two now).

This could be a great way to start off your Labor Day Weekend.

Thanks to Tom Miller, one of our newest members, for providing the information. Please let me know if you are going to attend and how many Jaguars you plan on bringing.

Best Regards, Jack Humphrey

Visiting the Shelby American Collection Museum

August 11th, 2010

Several JCSC members and friends drove to Boulder on July 17, for lunch and a tour of the Shelby American Collection Museum. Lunch was at the Baker Street Pub and Grill and was outstanding and perfectly suited to a Jaguar outing. The weather was HOT but otherwise completely cooperative.

Participants included Roy and Angela Winton, Keith Winton, Dave and Larenda Hershey, Carolyn McCaul, Jack Humphrey, Andrew and Norma Miller, Kelly Dennis and Don and Gary Yowell.

The Shelby American Collection is a journey into the heritage of America’s greatest racing car. The displayed vehicles range from an original AC Bristol through the GT-40’s of Le Mans racing legend. Included are 289 and 427 Cobra’s, GT-350 and GT-500 Cobras and even a Sunbeam Tiger. A Ferrari 410 Sport Scagleitti Spider driven by Carroll Shelby and other period notable drivers such as Phil Hill and Richie Ginther is also included in the collection. A fine exhibit of very detailed model racing cars is also displayed. Associated Shelby racing memorabilia is scattered throughout the museum.

It’s very difficult to tour this museum without being overcome by the volume and enormity of the history represented by this collection. These are the very
cars that challenged the European racing monopoly of the 1950’s and brought America’s racing expertise to the forefront in the venue of international motorsports.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to view this collection, it’s a journey well worth the time. — Don Yowell

Slalom Events with RMJC

July 29th, 2010

Hey all you Colorado Springs Jaguar Owners! We have been invited to participate in the RMJC sponsored slalom events coming up in the next few weeks:

To All JCSC Members: Come join us for some fun driving at a sanctioned Slalom event that RMJC is hosting. I know it’s a ways to come, but the fun of it just cannot be beat! The course is designed by JCNA and you can view it by going to www.jcna.com, click on Slalom, course layout. You can also view videos of people driving the course. We are posting a video on RMJC’s web site of some members who drove the course a few weeks ago. Among them was me driving for the first time and I cannot tell you what fun it is. You don’t have the chance to really go that fast even though it seems like it. You drive in an hourglass figure or bowtie, then a figure 8 and then around the course and stop. The best time was 43 seconds and I managed to do it in 48. From Colorado Springs , it will take you about 1.5 hours if you take the E-470 to I-70 route. Think of it as a one day event! If you have any questions, feel free to call 303-805-1644 or email me! Cyndi.mumm@comcast.net I do hope to see some of you on August 8th or September 12th.

Take the leap… Cyndi Mumm President, RMJC

Here are some details!

RMJC SLALOM

Walk the course with veteran driver and trainer Bob Grossman and get his tips about the track! You will get the privilege of driving the course 5 times and those scores will be reported to JCNA. It’s about time we got competitive and put RMJC on the map for Slaloms! Read more…

The Father’s Day event at the Briarhurst in Manitou Springs

July 8th, 2010

The Father’s Day event at the Briarhurst in Manitou Springs was another great success. As you can see from the event photos, the Jaguar Club of Southern Colorado was provided an excellent setting in which to show our Jaguars. The weather was perfect, if a little warm. No rain and lots of sunshine. There were plenty of other automobiles present at the show, but none compared to the excellent display of motoring excellence provided by the Jaguar Club of Southern Colorado and by Jaguar / Land Rover / Infinity of Colorado Springs

Thom and Jaguar – Colorado Springs provided a 2011 XJ-L (Supercharged) and a 2010 XKR for display.

Attendees included Gary and Dee Kerkow with their XK-150, Jack and Debbie Humphrey with their XJ-6, Roy and Angela Winton and their XK-8, Keith Winton with his X-Type, Andrew and Norma Miller and their X-Type, Budd Butcher and his XK-E (and friends), Dave and Larenda Hershey and their X-Type, Howard and Cyndi Mumm with their XK-8 and Don Yowell with his XK-8.

briarhurst5 Some of our cats got more attention than others!! Present were two BroncoCheerleaders. They added a colorful touch to an already excellent show.
