Jag Club’s Turn – First Saturdays Car Show

Please mark your calendar and save that date!! Saturday, August 6 is the First Saturdays Car Show at First and Main and your Jaguar Club is the Host Club for the August show!

We’ll meet up at First and Main (South Carefree and Powers Blvd – right in front of Dick’s Sporting Goods) around 7:00 A.M. to get all our Jaguars arranged for the show that begins at 8:00 A.M. We’ll be all finished by 10:00 A.M. before it gets too hot and if enough members are interested, we may find a nice place for lunch and a few cool ones.

This is a great, easy, no judging, no competition show – just clean ’em up and show ’em off!! There will probably be around 600 or more cars of all types and marques to look over and lots of gearheads to visit with.

We would love to have a good showing of Jaguars for everyone to admire – Please consider coming out and showing your car. If you don’t have a running Jaguar, bring anything else with wheels that you would like to show off. This show is for ANYTHING on wheels!

Drive to Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument

Dan Martin will lead a JCSC drive to the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument this Sunday, the 17th. We will stop for lunch at the Highline Café and Saloon in Hartsel. I have it on good authority that the Highline has great hand-cut fries and delicious hamburgers. Please join us for some great fun if you can.

The Fossil Beds is currently on Standard Hours, open Sunday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Let’s assemble at the Dealership (Jaguar Land Rover of Colorado Springs) for an 8:30 AM departure up the pass (Rt 24 West up Ute Pass). Since the Dealership is closed Sundays, let’s assemble in the front parking lot and admire the new cats. On the other side of Divide let’s peel off southwest on Twin Rocks Road (CO Rt 42), then north on Teller County Rd 1, and that should put us at the Fossil Beds by 9:30. Entry to the Fossile Beds is $5. If you enter with a pass holder (disabled vet or senior pass holder), entry is free for the pass holder plus three accomplices.

Our drive will miss the Wildflower Walk that starts at 9:00 AM. That is a 1 1/2 hour guided hike through the wildflowers of the Florissant Valley. If you would like to do that Wildflower Walk, then we can meet you there at the Fossil Beds. Those of us who have tiptoed through enough tulips will still find plenty of programs there to occupy us all morning. We’ll plan on leaving the Fossil Beds at 11:30 AM for Hartsel.

We’ll take Teller County Rd 1 south out of the Fossil Beds, then southwest on Co Rd 11, west on Co Rd 102 through Guffey, then north on CO-9 to Hartsel and the Highline Café. That should take us about an hour, so ETA at the Highline is 12:30 PM. We’ll dine there and head home as we will.

Besides, the scenery is gorgeous up there!
